Welcome to the BIA Community! This group orginated from a "Due in August 2001" bulletin board on a commercial website. Beginning in December 2000, we shared news of positive home pregnancy tests, morning sickness, and all the aches, pains, anxiety, and excitement of pregnancy. But our connection to each other did not end with the birth of our August babies. We grew stronger, in fact, after sharing our labor and delivery experiences. Many of us credit the women in this group for helping us survive those very difficult early post-partum weeks.
Essentially, we evolved into an effective online support group for each other, but our contact with one another was not limited to the message board. Most mommies have exchanged email, phone calls, gifts, and cards with other members. And many have even met in person!
The BIA site was created by a member and her husband in early 2002 as a non-commercial site just for mommies of August babies. While many of us have been together for nearly two years, several members have joined in the interim and new members are always welcomed. As with any large group of strong and sometimes hormonal women, we certainly have experienced our share of differences and hurt feelings. On top of it all, we have not lost our focus -- that we are connected because of our darling August babies.
The cycle continues as several August 2001 mommies are now expecting their next children in 2003. We look forward to welcoming these new babies into the community!
